Leeds Caravans Storage Ltd plans to invest over the next few years to create an additional 120 pitches. The company is also considering expanding the business to include an on-site caravan workshop and a shop selling ancillary goods.Leeds Caravan Storage Ltd was founded in 2001 by husband and wife team Paul and Karen McFadden.PortfolioThe latest acquisition increases the number of storage sites in the company's portfolio to two – the other site – in the middle of the Kirkstall Valley in Leeds and has the capacity to store 271 caravans, touring caravans and motor homes. The McFaddens' aim is to grow Leeds Caravan Storage Ltd further by acquiring existing caravan storage sites and or pieces of land suitable for development – they are currently looking at a plot of land in Yorkshire to create a third caravan storage site.According to the Caravan Club, caravanning is now one of the most popular paid-for holidays in the UK and with increasing awareness of the environmental cost of travelling abroad people are turning to caravans rather than going abroad. Caravan dealers have reported a 60 per cent increase in sales.Karen McFadden said: "The new site in Worksop is a well-established business that has provided a great service to its customer base for over 20 years.

More storage space for the University
ISS, on behalf of the University, took delivery of a new data storage system on Tuesday 7th October.
The new system will replace two existing disk arrays already in use at the University and will increase the amount of available storage by 50%. This would provide up to 140 TB (terabytes) of useable disk space to the University, enough space to store around 400 million web pages. The storage system can also be expanded by a further 300TB - meaning a lot more storage space will be available for University staff and students in the future.
The disk storage system, also known as a storage array network or SAN, is being supplied by DELL, in partnership with EMC. After selection of DELL as the preferred vendor in July 2008, and following two months of detailed negotiations, the University agreed to buy a Clariion CX4-480 SAN. Over the next few months the University will work closely with DELL and EMC to install the new system and migrate data from existing disk arrays onto the new system.
For more information on the SAN procurement please contact the Project Manager Craig Adams (c.a.adams@leeds.ac.uk ext 36995). Regular project updates are also available for University staff from the website
